The Block’s 20th season is shaping up to be the biggest yet as the Channel Nine renovation show celebrates two decades on the air.

And rumours are swirling that it is set to be another Fans Vs Faves edition.

‘There is still some chatter about bringing back some celebrated contestants for the 20th season but applications are still open for newbies,’ an insider told Yahoo Lifestyle on Friday.

With plenty of Blockhead favourites to choose from over the last two decades, fans have revealed who they want to return for the series.

‘Hope it’s Eliza and Liberty,’ one person commented, while another agreed, adding, ‘Would love the girls again!’

Another said, ‘Hope it’s Steph and Gian,’ followed by someone else who replied, ‘No they won enough money. It should be House 1, Leslie and her hubby [Kyle].’

Meanwhile, someone else suggested this year’s villains Kristy and Brett should return ‘to redeem themselves’ and get another shot at taking the crown.

Another said: ‘I guarantee it’s Leah and Ash. On auction night they didn’t get anything (except the car and The Block wages).’

Elsewhere, other long-time Blockheads said it’s ‘way too soon’ to bring back season 19 contestants, and instead suggested teams from previous years.

‘They should bring back the four losing teams of 2022 they all put so much work in for little or no return,’ one fan commented.

‘I’d love Jenny and Dylan to return,’ someone else responded, reminding everyone that they made no money after failing to sell their home at reserve price.’

Others went even further back and said they’d like to see Josh and Jenna (seasons 4 and 6), Kyal and Kara (season 8), Alisa and Lysandra (season 7), and Sticks and Wombat (season 13).

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Nine for comment.

If season 20 of The Block shapes up to be a Fans Vs Faves season, it will be the fifth time the network has brought back former contestants after All Stars in 2013, Fans V Faves in 2014, Triple Threat in 2015, and Fans V Faves in 2021.

The Block will return for its 20th season next year, with the milestone being filmed at a holiday resort on Phillip Island.
